Bringing together 150 of today’s supply chain leaders to discuss best practices and proven mobile technology strategies, Barcoding, Inc.’s third annual Executive Forum: Accelerating the Supply Chain with Barcoding and RFID, was the company’s most successful event yet. Held Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Pier 5 Hotel in Baltimore, the systems integrator’s one-day conference opened with keynote speaker, Kevin Neville, director of technology and enterprise architect for United Rentals, Inc., who discussed, first-hand, how United Rentals’ best-of-breed mobile solution that enhanced the company’s delivery efficiencies with the help of Barcoding and its partners.
Following Neville’s presentation, a panel discussion covered best practices and the components of a successful mobile implementation and deployment, touching on the themes of “BYOD” (bring your own device), mobile device management, and the importance of vendor partnerships. The conference then split into two tracks, Warehouse Optimization and Beyond the Four Walls, featuring insight from Motorola, Descartes, Zebra, Apacheta, TrackAbout, Savant, Intellitrack and SOTI experts. Topics covered ranged from utilizing RFID for traceability and trends in proof of delivery, to inventory accuracy and warehouse management systems, to mobile printing and cloud-based asset management.
During lunch, Impinj hosted a live demonstration of its new Speedway xArray™ Reader System – the first RFID system designed for autonomous wide-area monitoring applications while maintaining backwards compatibility with portal applications. Attendees also had a first-hand look at some of the latest mobile tablets, computers and printers during the Solutions Showcase held throughout the event. The final session of the day was an informal discussion, “RFID and the Future,” which encouraged audience participation in brainstorming forthcoming trends and innovations.
